I first practiced yoga while at Converse College, with Jan LeFrancois, a psychology professor and Iyengar yoga instructor. The peace and focus I found after that first practice was immense.

When I returned to Spartanburg I found YOGAlicious. Practicing with Monica, Catherine and Adrienne was a wondrous experience. So much so that I signed up for the very first Teacher Training class at YOGAlicious! In addition to encouraging others to find balance, healing and peace, I enjoy being outdoors with my family and our dogs, dancing with our beautiful daughter and looking for places to *just be* near my favorite element: water, while immersing myself in this mantra:

Curiosity led me to my first yoga class in 2006. I was in grad school in Charleston and found myself hooked on Bikram style yoga and Vinyasa classes. It was there I became a vegetarian and read “Light on Yoga” and “Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras” for the first time. I moved back to Spartanburg for work in 2008, Yogalicious became my studio of choice. In 2011 I moved to San Diego where chronic back pain led me to explore an Iyengar practice. San Diego is full of studios and yogic opportunities and after recovering, I discovered a comfy neighborhood studio with daily offerings of Vinyasa classes that were perfect for me. Prenatal and postnatal yoga helped me have two healthy pregnancies/deliveries and recoveries. I owe a lot to my yoga practice and am grateful for it everyday. I returned to Spartanburg in 2016 where again, Yogalicious became my place of practice. In 2021, I completed my 500 Hour RYT Teacher Training from the Asheville Yoga Center.

I first practiced yoga in Spartanburg with Catherine Querin, in a tiny room upstairs at Spartanburg Athletic Club. I was a stay-at-home mom, with 3 school age children. Not only did I enjoy the stretching and strengthening the class gave me, but the peace and serenity the class gave me to get through those hectic days!

Now my children are all grown up and its just me and my husband at home (along with our two wonderful pets). Over the years I’ve pursued many different interests. Five years ago, I rediscovered yoga at Yogalicious Studio and the WaveRoom.

Since then, my love of yoga has grown beyond all other interests. In 2020, I completed my 200 hour RYT Teacher Training from Katy Corbin at Yogalicious. The pandemic may’ve put a stop to my ‘hot yoga’ and Zumba classes, but NOT to my love of yoga, music and dance! I am now acclimated to a ‘cooler’ style of yoga and ready to teach others to love yoga and music as much as I do.

I’ve enjoyed yoga for many years, trying it first at a community fitness center and through online videos. I took a yoga handstand workshop a few years ago and have been hooked on handstands ever since!

I am a pediatric occupational therapist and began therapeutic yoga training to incorporate yoga into my therapy sessions. I’ve recently finished a 200 hour yoga teacher training with Yogalicious to further my knowledge and experience.

I also enjoy CrossFit training, paddleboarding, and doing handstands in cool places. I coach CrossFit classes, Olympic style weightlifting, and teach yoga at Crash Fitness in Spartanburg.

Jane began teaching at Yogalicious in 2018, focusing primarily on gentle and restorative practice. After practicing yoga for a few years, she decided when she turned 50 (and when her favorite practice guide took sabbatical to care for her baby) that perhaps it was time SHE took things to the next level and learn to teach yoga - so she did (through Lifestyle & Movement/Lisa Muehlenbien)! She is enjoying this aspect of her practice, and loves guiding others in their own. When she isn't at Yogalicious, Jane can be found at home in Lyman with her husband, Donnie and their three dogs (Elam and Ollie the dachshunds, and Béla the basset hound), offering support to her friends with DRNA rescuing dachshunds, or enjoying downtime with friends and family whether in Spartanburg or in Tennessee, from which she hails. A creative, whimsical artist and kid at heart, she makes a living as a graphic designer at Spartanburg Community College managing all things creative and web for the marketing and PR department. Kay Stricklin is a graduate of Converse College and the Protestant Episcopal Theological Seminary in Virginia with a Master of Theological Studies.

She has spent 40 years as a spiritual director and theological educator. Often a lecturer and leader of retreats on spiritual growth, Kay has long had a particular interest in the significance of THE DREAM in people's lives.
She is a graduate of the Haden Institute for Dream Work and has conducted numerous classes and workshops on the subject nationally.

Kay is also an experienced Yoga instructor having completed her 230 hour training at Asheville Yoga Center. She has taught yoga in studio and privately accumulating over 1000 hours as a teacher.

I am a 500 hr certified yoga teacher. I received my 200hr here at Yogalicious and studied under Susanna Barkataki for my 300hr. I believe in honoring the roots of yoga which means acknowledging the origins of the practice in South Asia and embodying the teachings on and off the mat. This shows up in my classes through the creation of safe, inclusive and accessible spaces for people of any background or ability. I am passionate about rest advocacy, meditation and sharing the tools I have learned to build a strong mind-body connection.

Yoga has patiently waited for me to find it again and again throughout different phases of my life. I developed a regular practice after joining a friend in a hot vinyasa flow class. Over time I craved more of the stress reducing, mind clearing, and self-esteem boosting effects I was gaining from yoga. After a couple years I longed for an even deeper connection and decided to pursue my 200-hour certification. I found a teacher training program that aligned with my own holistic views through the lens of modern neuroscience, Ayurveda, ancient yogic philosophy, and social justice in Elemental Moon Yoga School (Grace Millsap).

Besides teaching yoga I am a registered nurse currently on the path to becoming a Holistic Health and Wellbeing Nurse Coach. I am passionate about the arts and the vital role they play in the health, cultural understanding, identity, community building and sense of belonging we all desire.

Yoga teaches us to live skillfully in the present. I hope you will find my classes to bring you closer to your inner self through mindful movement, meditation and breath.

Spartanburg has been my home for 20+ years now, but I grew up in the San Francisco Bay area and was introduced to yoga by way of meditation from my hippie parents. I’m a massage therapist, yoga teacher, and avid world traveler! Among my favorite practices to teach are Tantra, Restorative, Kundalini, Sound Baths, and Mantras.

I started practicing yoga as a means to relieve stress and find an outlet of non competitive exercise. As a collegiate softball player, every ounce of my physical activity was regimented, and I was craving a source of movement that didn’t feel that way. As an athlete, yoga transformed the way I thought about my body. I began to appreciate and acknowledge the things that I could do through movement, instead of criticizing it for not always performing the way it was supposed to. I obtained my 200 hr with the intentions of transforming other athletes’ ways of thinking, as well as helping others find themselves through yoga the way I did. The mat brings something different to me every time I practice, and that’s the best part!

I’m currently a student at VCOM studying Osteopathic Medicine. I plan to use the components of yoga and mindfulness to broaden the scope of my own personal holistic practice as a physician.

Ani Perez is a non-binary, neurodiverse yoga instructor, musician and activist. Also a person in long-term addiction recovery, Ani has used life’s many obstacles to fuel their passion for social justice. They co-founded Vibration Yoga in 2021 with the mission to bring free yoga to marginalized communities. When they’re not teaching yoga or playing music you might find them at a protest, volunteering for local queer organizations, or supporting the local drag scene. Yoga found me in 2016 at a time in my life when I desperately needed it. I was experiencing depression, anxiety and aimlessness daily. I started doing hours of online Asana and Pranayama. With this yoga practice I slowly gained confidence and higher connection with my intuition. My practice led me to my 200 hour teacher training in Greenville, SC which I completed in 2020. I started teaching immediately at the YMCA and other yoga studios in the area. As I continued my practice and teaching, I began to learn more and more about the roots of yoga. This shifted my focus to the philosophies and spirituality of this ancient Indian and African practice. Which led me to my 500 hour training in 2022, with Susanna Barkataki. My main goals now as a Yoga facilitator are to: honor the lineage of Yoga, help bring physically and financially accessible Yoga to marginalized communities, and fight social injustices through the lens of Yoga.
